A partnership has been established between the European wholesale carrier TeliaSonera International Carrier and OTEGlobe, the international carrier business area of the Greek incumbent, in order to offer competitive IP, data, voice and transport services to the major operators and carriers in South-East Europe, Middle East and Far East.
TeliaSonera International Carrier is a strong European Tier 1 carrier. Today there are three to five carrier companies in the world that are Tier 1 companies. This position and OTEGlobe’s strong regional presence in Greece and in the Mediterranean region will enable the two companies to provide unique and competitive IP solutions to customers in Greece and in the Mediterranean region. The partnership also includes joint development of IP and capacity solutions offerings.
The purpose of this strategic partnership is to establish a critical business relationship, to maximize commercial synergies, boost revenues and decrease operational and capital expenses.
"I am delighted that we have signed this forward-thinking agreement with OTEGlobe", says Eva Lindqvist, President of TeliaSonera International Carrier. "This is an important partnership that gives us the opportunity to combine our mutual strengths and knowledge, especially in the IP area. It provides us great opportunities to jointly develop our business together with OTEGlobe. We will be able to increase our presence in the market and extend our offerings to our customers."
"We are looking forward to the partnership with TeliaSonera International Carrier to further expand our business, by combining the strengths of both companies geographically and technologically", Mr Angeloglou, CEO of OTEGlobe says. "Through this partnership, we are establishing one of the largest IP networks in the world, in order to offer more competitive, world class services, to our customers. We are confident that this strategic cooperation will be very successful for the benefit of both companies."
The two partners also came to a traffic exchange and termination agreement, in order to match appropriate bandwidths and quality of service hosted on the partner networks. For this reason TeliaSonera International Carrier will use OTEGlobe for call traffic termination in Balkans and Cyprus, while OTEGlobe will use TeliaSonera International Carrier in the Baltic and CIS region.
With this agreement the two partners will have the ability to deliver premium quality voice services, mobile to mobile calling and increase efficiency through cost reduction and new revenue generation. Moreover, OTEGlobe will be able to effectively manage temporary traffic surge especially during the Olympic Games which will take place in Greece during this summer.
