Athens, July 11 2005– OTEGlobe and DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe Ltd) announced today the signing of a deal to deliver connectivity and bandwidth services in Europe and the S.E. Mediterranean region.
With this agreement OTEGlobe strengthens its long partnership alliance with DANTE, a “Not for Profit” organization, which plans, builds and operates state-of-the-art technology networks and networking services on behalf of the European academic and research community.
More specifically, under the terms of the above agreement, OTEGlobe will implement 4 different projects on behalf of DANTE which include:
§ The delivery of two connections at a bandwidth capacity of 2λ (i.e. 20Gbps) between the GN2* network Points of Presence, Athens-Milan and Athens-Vienna, over the GWEN, the new international network backbone of the OTE Group.
§ The delivery of an STM-4 (622Mb) connection between the GN2 network PoPs Athens-Istanbul.
The above projects have been implemented over the technologically advanced backbone network of OTEGlobe, which is based on the high-capacity and highly redundant international MPLS network, MSP (MultiServices Platform), which has been built several years ago and has an extensive presence in S.E. Europe and the most important telecommunication exchange centers around the globe.
The deployment of this project marks another major milestone for OTEGlobe towards accomplishing its goal of evolving Greece into a S.E. European Telecommunications hub and OTE the leading pan-regional carrier.
*GN2 is the “network successor” to the pan-European multi-Wavelength research network GEANT.
