MTS and OTEGLOBE connected their networks in ancotel
Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS – NYSE: MBT), Russia's and CIS' largest mobile operator, and OTEGLOBE S.A., the leading telecommunications provider in Greece and the Balkans, connected their networks in a purpose of international traffic exchange.
OTEGLOBE more than doubles the capacity provided to Turk Telekom for its international connectivity
Turk Telekom, the Turkish incumbent, more than doubled the capacity provided by OTEGLOBE, the international wholesale arm of OTE Group (the Greek incumbent), for satisfying its increasing needs for connectivity to the International Internet Exchanges.
More specifically from around 100Gbps that OTEGLOBE provided to Turk Telekom, the capacity is upgraded to 250Gbps through its international fiber optic private networks TBN & GWEN, which interconnect Greece with Europe through the Balkans and Italy accordingly.
Significant increase in OTEGLOBE’s financial results for 2010
OTEGLOBE, the international Telecommunications arm of OTE Group Greece, recorded important growth in 2010, based on the company’s financial statements.
OTEGLOBE’s revenue reached € 237.644.000, recording a 17% increase from 2009, while EBIT was increased for more than 8%. It should be mentioned that this increase in OTEGLOBE’s financial figures was recorder regardless of the difficult domestic financial circumstances, as the company has been established as an important int’l carrier with 70% of its revenue coming from the markets of SE Europe, Middle East & Africa.
